Description
The Dragon dance is traditional dance related to the Chinese culture. The dance requires many dancers, sometimes up to 50 persons, due to its sheer size, weight and length. Co-ordinating hand and foot movements while supporting the Dragon on poles requires much teamwork, discipline, stamina and substantial practice.
A great spectacle to watch, the dance is performed to welcome a new start, driving away evil spirits, bringing good luck and fortune to the people. Like the Lion Dance, The Dragon Dance is usually performed on big occasions or grand openings, especially during the Chinese New Year.
