Description
About 2,000 years ago, God sent an angel to a virgin called Mary. She was engaged to Joseph, a carpenter. The angel told Mary that by God’s power, she would conceive and bear a son. He was named Jesus. When Mary gave birth to Jesus in Bethlehem, she wrapped him in cloths, and laid him in a manger because there was no room in the inn.
That night, an angel appeared to the shepherds who were keeping their flock. He told them the Savior was born in Bethlehem and they would find the Messiah in a manger. The shepherds left immediately, and found baby Jesus. They told Joseph and Mary about what the angel had said. When the shepherds left Bethlehem, they praised God for all they had heard and seen. Later, three wise men brought gifts to Jesus. They worshipped him, and offered gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
