Description
The Sultan Mosque located in Kampong Glam, is a significant landmark in the area. It was built from 1924 to 1928 to replace the existing mosque that was built around 1824. The Mosque has a prayer hall which can accommodate up to 5000 people in mass prayer.
The mosque is the focus of the Muslim faith in Singapore and is a mixture of Classical, Moorish, Turkish and Persian themes, which together formed a recognizable Islamic style.
