Peranakan women have taken to wearing the baju kebaya, seen most notably on a Singapore Girl. With the hot climate and exposure to European blouses and lace, the practical Nyonas shortened the dress top to hip length and enhanced its beauty with lace trimming along the fringes of the tunic which is now popularly known as Nonya Kebaya. The Nonyas wore kebaya with Batik sarongs. A Batik sarong is a rectangular piece of cloth with either hand drawn or block printed motifs.
