Raffles Hotel, Singapore was opened in 1887 in a rather sombre-looking old bungalow known as Beach House by three Armenian brothers from Julfa, which is today’s Turkey. In 1989, the hotel was restored to the style and ambience of the 1920s as its heyday is one of the few remaining great 19th century hotels in the world. With its unique blend of tropical garden setting and classical architecture, the hotel is the legendary symbol for all the fables of the Exotic East. Together with its rich history, Raffles Hotel is part of the very fabric of Singapore’s Culture.
