Description

Fort Canning is an iconic hilltop landmark that has witnessed many of Singapore’s historical milestones. It was the first Botanic Gardens in Singapore before Singapore Botanic Gardens and served as the Governors’ Residence, Headquarters of the Far East Command Centre and British Army Barracks. The decision to surrender Singapore to the Japanese on 15 February 1942 was also made on the hill, in the Underground Far East Command Centre, Battle Box. Today, the 18-hectare space is booming with attractions and activities offering a unique blend of experiences in the heart of the city-state.
